If the plan is to pressure Floyd, I have no idea how Canelo will last the 12. He was GASSED by the mid rounds.

But wouldn't it be shocking if the key to beating Floyd is not pressure, but actually precision, calm, methodical boxing?

Everyone who has come at Floyd has failed. But Canelo has something else in mind.

was a very close fight...if it wasn't for the KD i would have scored it a draw...

but the main thing that fight showed is that when faced with a legitimate 154lber (not some past prime, shot, undersized opponent), canelo all of a sudden looks like an ordinary and unimpressive fighter and not this great magical mexican superstar that everyone raves about...

The only reason he won was because trout didn't land **** with his slapping and pawing. Rounds were literally decided by a hard punch or 2. Canelo has no chance other then catching Floyd. I could understands if he was a guy like margarito who bodies guys but he's not, he's gonna try to snipe form the outside and will look silly

I aggree (unless a fighter comes along that can pressure like Duran or Chavez, Castillo and Chavez did a great job at it).

Canelo has these atributes but having to be drained into fighting Mayweather doesn't help nor does never being in a fight where he has to dig a bit to win the fight.

Even before Mayweather got Castillo and Chavez or Hernandez he had Goyo Vargas give him a bit of problems as he pressured Mayweather; it was what was to come whenever Mayweather faced Latin fighters (trouble).

I belive Mayweather doesn't belong at 147 between the announcment and a few weeks ago Mayweather has added some obvious mass to his frame. If he still fights at weltweight and one day there will be a welterweight that gives him a dog fight, don't expect Floyd to just box away, Floyd is a very strong welterweight. Even at jr. middleweight he is very strong because there no really solid jr. middleweight with the strength that Mayweather has at welterweight.

If i was fighting Mayweather for 5 rounds all i'd do is jab with Floyd and counter.

No one has mentioned this but Floyd in a way does what Chavez Sr. used to do even Trinidad did this, which is don't do much the first few rounds. They understood as Floyd does that EVERY fighter is a live dog for the first part of the fight, because they throw their wad in the first few rounds and gassed by the middle rounds. Great trainers imo, know this, smart fighters will learn it eventually.

I'm not sure where you're getting that. In recent pics posted here Floyd looks rather gaunt.

I have a su****ion that Floyd might gauge Canelo's strategy early and if Canelo does prove to be effective he will do ala trinidad or cotto and low-blow to slow him down. Floyd will get away with it being he's always gotten away with his many tactics.

Im not sure you can beat Canelo on the cards. They had him so far ahead in the Trout fight it was disgusting. Floyd isn't knocking out someone that much bigger than he is, so he better hope Oscar doesn't buy himself a rematch via robbery...

Pretty much, Canelo fights at a Floyd pace and doesn't have the engine to make him work and has been fighting more like a counterpuncher lately from what I see which why he won't win

I made a thread basically inferring the same thing as soon as the fight ended. Canelo seems only to know how to box from the outside. When it was in his interest to get inside on Trout and try and break him down Canelo never made a single move to do so. I seriously question if he can at all.

Canelo outboxed Trout. It was actually far more comfortable than I thought it would be for him. He actually made Trout look silly at times.
