Comments Thread For: Matthysse's Trainer: Lucas is More Than Just a Puncher

Trainer Luis Barrera, the man behind Lucas Matthysse (34-2, 32KOs), says his boxer is more than just a puncher. Matthysse faces WBC/WBA junior welterweight champion Danny Garcia (26-0, 16KOs) on September 14th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Garcia and his father/trainer Angel Garcia believe Matthysse is nothing more than a big puncher with little to no boxing ability. The Matthysse-Garcia match will be the co-feature to the big Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Saul Alvarez showdown.

"One of the best boxers in the world?" No. He's alright. He can punch hard. Be satisfied with that.

matthysse's boxing skills are underrated, he's a slick(for a pressure fighter) and intelligent aggressor

anyone that isn't a flashy speed-star that is always jogging backwards gets their boxing skills underrated on here

they are considered dumb fighters who only have power or punch alot

Lucas shouldn't try to box. He needs to be aggressive and reckless for a KO win

plz elaborate? lol, go watch a fight of his

guy in the pocket slipping and blocking and countering all in one
golovkin is another, although i think golovkin is slightly better, matthysse might be a little harder to hit clean

takes alot more skills than leaning/jumping back or ducking one punch while moving away from your opponent, you can believe that

The guy in your avatar is what you're trying to describe and Matthysse is no where near that. "Slick" absolutely not. JMO

He is a decent boxer, but you can tell that he is more comfortable being the aggressor.
