On October 19th, WBO interim junior welterweight champion Mike Alvarado (34-1) will defend his title against top contender Ruslan Provodnikov (22-2). The 29-year-old Provodnikov is currently training in Hollywood, CA under the watchful eye of renown trainer Freddie Roach who is also currently training former three-division champion Miguel Cotto for his October 5th fight against Delvin Rodriguez.

Provodnikov said that his training camp is coming along perfectly and praised Cotto for his work ethic.

Ruslan is a true warrior. He has a legitimate chance to star in the two best bouts of the year.

Gotta admit. Provo gets better sparring.

Ruslan trying to bait Alvarado into a war. If Mikes moves and boxes he will beat Ruslan just like he beat Rios. Never give flat footed power punchers a chance to set their feet. Hopkins has shown this plenty of times.

I see this fight going as rios vs alvarado. But the question is which one? I or II? If alvarado boxes like he did against brandon on the 2nd fight, i seriously see him winning. Cant wait for this war

I think Alvarado wins by TKO in the 9th. He has good power and he's a crafty boxer. I don't think he allows Ruslan to fight like the 1st fight he had with Rios. I really would like to see Mike Alvarado go up against Juan Manuel Marquez for the WBO 140lbs strap.

if provodnikov forced tim into a war, he sure as hell can force mike into a war....tim's a better boxer in my opinion, so im convinced that he can get to alvarado and provodnikov will prolly win
