I agree with 'lopez36', Mares has been the smaller man in his last couple of fights. PDL was giving him a hard way to go before he KO'd him.

Mares was beating PDL before the stoppage. He knocked him down twice and then knocked him out, I didn't see PDL giving him a hard time.

He should switch trainers. I think Freddie roach is perfect for him. Mares is short and tends to throw sloppy wide hooks. Roach can teach him to throw good combinations.
