I think its a good strategy for fighters that are hurt to make it out of the round and recover.

should have tried and clinch...i mean if you're that badly hurt then there's no shame in clinching or back pedaling...or something. clinching is only a ***** move when you throw a couple of punches then clinch like ward....or alexander or hopkins...
