i really don't think that would have mattered, gonzalez had him hurt, bad, like really bad and i was surprised meras even got up after the first knockdown....if it went into the 2nd round it would've been more of the same

while i do agree with you that a lot of fighters get hyped up and i do agree that canelo is gonna lose pretty convincingly against floyd, i was impressed by his performance against trout, he actually showed some decent defense in that fight, something we don't normally see from canelo

it seems like to people 1 loss and your career is done. I find that more amusing than the nut huggers

I actually predicted a double loss for Santa Cruz & Mares earlier in the week. I told my son at the beginning of Rd 1 that if Mares trades with Jhonny Gonzales early he could get him out of there with his big left hook. Most Featherweights don't have the kind of power Jhonny has thus almost 50 KO's out of what 60 fights? The guy can ****. Cong**** to him with getting his belt back!

didn't Ponce take the title from Gonzalez?

Gonzalez had the title but lost it to Ponce.

Like both guys, Mares and Johnny so I'm fine with whoever won this fight, I tought Mares would squiz a win but oh well I'm happy for johny, he wasn't losing to Ponce De Leon IMO.

I'm a huge fan both boxers, but yeah well deserved win for Jhonny. His great career needed a win like this stamped on his record.
