I'll have to watch it again to see if he had a sweat on coming into the ring. I don't want to take anything away from Jhonny as he is a top guy who deserves another big payday, but Mares usually seems much more reactive than that.
I wouldn't worry about his "sweat". I'm laughing at this it's soooo full of baloneyitis... One thing I've noticed is that many of the posters who are saying that he just happened to get caught and he'll be back and etc. etc. are the very same people who have been making mockery of Pacquaio who happened to trip face first into a punch that Marquez threw in desperation whilst being beaten and on the way to being stopped.

I suppose you can't please everybody. Or is it the Abraham Lincoln comment about "fooling the people....." Maybe he really meant the people making fools of themselves..... like now on this thread.

I suggest that the next time that Mares fights you bring a little bottle with you and try to get a souvenir "drop of sweat". You can make a shrine of it in a corner of your basement room. I think it was Nero who had a slave with a supply of small vials, to catch Nero's tears when he was overcome by his own poetic brilliance.... If it was good enough for an emperor it should be good enough for you. Sorry, I'm making typos all over the page because i'm still laughing .......

No hard feelings ..just good clean fun.

People can say what they want about floyd being a "cherrypicker" but this proves u cant take anybody for granted. Gonzalez is ****er and mares tried to be a hero and didnt fight his fight. And people complain about no consistentcy with champs. Some cant even hold on to thw title longer than two or three defenses. Say what u want about the k bros but they are running the division. floyd baby. By the way does anybody know whats going on with showtime time warner beef?

Rigo style is different, he might be able to outpoint Mares but what happened tonight was something a puncher did.

I think that punch would have landed like that soon or later....Gonzales was fighting the perfect fight;like it or not nacho's fighters are always well disciplined as if they are playing chess not boxing...because if it happen that easy..y would it get any harder??? mares will bounce back but he should move back down and go after rigo after a couple fights...where the money is

I must have written that Mares is seriously over rated at least 3 or 4 times on this forum. I remember Agbeko beating the crap out of him. He looked and reminded me of Khan, a ballsy little fighter, with a limited defence and all offence

Mares needed this loss. His hands have been WAAY too low in his last few fights. I hope he learns from this and comes back with the right adjustments. What Gonzalez did tonight could have knocked anybody out though. I actually had it as a 50:50 fight when I saw Gonzalez last week.

Jhonny Gonzalez is a bad bad man.

He wrecked my boy Hasegawa. So I know. Now he de-railed the hypetrain that is Mares.

Can we get Jhonny v. Mikey please? De-rail another one.

It's called a feint. Jhonny touched him to the body, did a feint and launched his left hook. Mares never saw it coming. Actually, I think Jhonny got Abner's attention with a right hook first.

There's no doubt that Mares' team underestimated Gonzales. How could you not think that Gonzalez would set him up with that left hook which is his trademark. Gonzalez never intended to fight for 12 rounds. He wanted to end it quickly and with one punch.
