Welterweight contender Luis Carlos Abregú (35-1, 28KOs) today informed BoxingScene that he will be out of action until 2014. Abregú recently discussed the possibilty of hand surgery in an interview with this writer and evidently decided to go ahead with the operation 15 days ago. The hard hitting Argentine is currently recuperating and hopes to be back in the ring as soon as posible. He was last seen in April, winning a hard-fought decision over Antonin Decarie as part of the Sergio Martinez-Martin Murray undercard.
