What's going on here? When this fight was made I had Jhonny Gonz winning, it's a very close pick em fight, and you're telling me he's almost a 10-1 underdog?

He opened up @ 7-1, now he's +950......talk to me here folks.

Mares is stronger than ever and Gonzalez is not quite shopworn but hes been around for a while. Mares is going to break him down and stop him.

Mares hoped on the juice, I have no doubts about it. Strong accusations I know and no proof, but a little guy like Mares doesn't just pack on all that muscle in that short a span.

Still I see Jhonny winning the fight.

I agree the line is wide for Mares. Just like Broner was 11-1 favorite against Paulie.

But Mares should be the favorite, he's proved himself to be an elite boxer and he's probably in his physical prime. Gonzalez is a good boxer and has the length and power to trouble Mares, but his track record is bad when he faces world class fighters. Gonzalez has some good wins but lost to Ponce, Nishioka, Penalosa, and Vazquez all by ko except for the Ponce fight and PDL looked like he was in his way to stopping Jhonny IMO.

Mares IMO is nowhere an elite boxer. Why is there a ton of hype regarding this guy? People act like he dominated PDL but I disagree. He was unimpressive in that fight. A one handed PDL was wearing Mares down and hitting him repeatably with his left hand tot he body and head.

those are strong accusations. He works out a lot, he posts pictures on social media and he is only growing more. His body is maturing and I haven't really seen anything to make me feel like he is using.

Are you betting on Gonzalez? Mares should take this but I agree it won't be easy. Also leo santa cruz is a huge favorite as well, despite not being the champion

Mares is a world class athlete. He has filled out well at 126. That doesn't mean he is a cheat. It's probably not that hard to put on muscle with a good strength and conditioning coach and when you aren't as concerned with try to cut weight.

No one said he was a great technical boxer or anything but he wears guys down with his style. He is relentless and sometimes will be downright dirty. I thought he dominated PDL...and he also dominated Moreno who I am high on.

gonzales is already past prime and he's the kind who can't handle durable fighters like mares.

but yeah 9-1 is a bit too much i think.
