Forrest-Quartey rumored to be on Taylor-Soliman undercard

I don't think Sam Soliman, although he's a very tough guy with a lot of heart, deserves a title shot after his loss to Winky, but the possible Vernon Forrest-Ike Quartey bout on the undercard is worth the price of admission to me... how do you see this card playing out?

I would love to see Ike pull it off, but he has definitely lost a step since his slugfest with Oscar over a half a decade ago. However, Forrest hasn't been impressive since his two wins over Mosley. i look forward to this one much more than the main event.

Taylor is scared of Wright. How else can you explain why Taylor opts to fight Soliman, Wright's left overs.

My point exactly. Winky offered to fight him IN ARKANSAS, but Taylor wasn't cool with a 50/50 split. Taylor's an excellent fighter, but he wants no part of Winky.

I dont think either fighter wants the fight to be honest. If Winky really wanted it, he would have accepted a 60-40 split. After that he'll make the big money as the true undisputed middleweight champ. I bet Taylor couldnt believe his luck as there's no way he wants any part of Winky.

Forrest vs Quartey - great fight, and real difficult to pick. I'd have to go with Forrest on this one but you really can't seperate them. As you say, a much better match up than the main event.

I don't believe Taylor is ducking Wright. I think he just wants a tune up, which I don't have a problem with. And Dibella is right that it'd be hard to sell this fight right now.

Wright isn't a big name. He's kidding himself asking for a 50-50 purse split. That's ridiculous. Throw Wright vs. a no name on PPV and watch how many it sells. Taylor isn't a big name either, but I do think he is a slightly bigger name than Wright. And it doesn't matter. Since neither guy is a big name, it should be the standard 75-25 purse split.

Zab took 100 k to fight Cory Spinks both times. Zab's definitely a bigger name than Winky. If Zab can take that kind of money, Winky can settle for less than 50% of the total purse between him and Taylor. He is the challenger. Only guys like DLH and Tyson should be able to command 50% purse split if they're not the champion.

And I think Forrest will shut Quartey down completely. I don't even expect it to be very competitive after a few rounds pass and Quartey gasses out.

good card if this is true. taylor/soliman should be exciting while it lasts and quartey/forrest is a great unfolding story. two ex- world class champs seeking to regain a world title. they were two of my favorite fighters of the late 90's so i'll be interested.

Good point on the 60-40. That should be acceptable. I would have to say Forrest is the favorite on the undercard, but I would never count Quartey out. i'd love to see Ike win a very close decision or by a very late KO.

Zab may be a bigger name to casual fans, very casual at that, but Winky is heads and shoulders above Judah. 75-25 to me is a little unfair, but if they could agree on 60-40, I'd be cool with that. At this stage in boxing, belts aren't as coveted as they used to be, so I don't think the traditional 75-25 should hold up, but you know how politics are.
