People who didn't enjoy the Donaire vs. Rigo fight don't know **** about boxing. Both men were in a chess match and showed beautiful boxing skills. Rigo won this and showed that he wouldn't stick outside his game plan. It was a southpaw vs orthodox too, and we all know that in that kind of fight its all about lewering your opponent to your traps.

I do not understand how people did not enjoy his fight with Donaire,it was a clinic,i was in aww and i was rooting for Donaire...some people need to find another sport to watch

I know, it makes me feel sorry for those who watch this sport for only one type of style. I still somewhat like Donaire, but I fucking loved that fight. Watching it back is more for those occasions where I'm content to sit down, relax and watch a masterful display of pure boxing, rather than rock-'em-sock-'em wars with blood all over the ring, which gets me all riled up and pumped instead. It was a terrific exhibition of boxing, the likes of which you rarely see against a world class opponent like Donaire. Much to my surprise, Guille stood in the pocket and engaged Nonito for at least the first four rounds. It wasn't until he built a good lead that Rigo started moving some more. Before then, "El Chacal" was in that samurai stance of his, trading punches with Donaire.

Now that Guille spanked Nonito so convincingly, some people want to believe Donaire was never that good to begin with. He was and is. Rigondeaux is just better. Bring all comers....

he shouldn't change his style,but he shouldn't expect hbo or others to drool over him either if that's the way he plans on fighting,like I said earlier,can't have it both ways..guys like Russell,crawford,keith Thurman are the guys that are appealing to most fans,not rigo,miguel Vazquez,etc,,,,they win which is what they want,but their styles simply wont get them anywhere,vazquez said this too that he has trouble getting tv dates,thats how things are,unfair it might seem,but business is business

Rigo says he will not change what has got him here, well enjoy an ocassional fight on HBO as a under-card fight, hell maybe NBC Fight Night or the new Fox Sports1 or ESPN FNF's will showcase him. If he gets out of his Top Rank deal and goes over to GB, Showtime will treat him no different after they see the ratings after one of his fights.

What doesn't Rigo get. Rigo is not wanted or needed in America. That is why no fights have been offered. Go back and fight for Castro. And learn to speak English.

Not true at all. Do you consider Pacquiao a loudmouth or a punching bag? Heck, even Golovkin is getting more and more popular without being either. He specifically hooked up with Abel Sanchez to help him adopt his style for the American Public. That doesn't mean he has to become a punching bag.

What exactly do you consider good for the sport? Anything that grows the viewership is from our current small niche is what I consider good for the sport.

Rigondeaux situation is just a symptom of the reality tv generation...sad stuff indeed.

If the preferences and tastes of the public change, it's not up to public to adapt to the fighter. It's up to the fighters to adopt to the public. This is true for all industries, not just boxing. Does Rigo want to be the next Blockbuster?

Well, if he wants to continue to to be on tv and continue to get bigger paycheck, it's up to him. Rigo is fortunate as hell that Arum was a good enough promoter to get Rigo to where he is. And he sure is bitchy for someone who just got a 750k payday against one of the tops names in the sport. Arum has done a great job with what Rigo brings to the table. If HBO is all of a sudden playing hard ball with Rigo, he needs to be more flexible. And I'm not talking about just style. I'm talking about being flexible with opponents, dates, weight, money, locations, PED testing, and whatever else. He needs to realize the situation is in and take whatever he can to get him ahead.

I personally don't think Rigo's performance against Donaire warrants an HBO ban. I think he'd be okay on undercard spots, but he shouldn't expect anywhere the near the amount of money he made against Donaire.
