First and foremost, I don't want to sound ignorant when asking this question. I empathize with all cancer patients since I lost my father to cancer last October. I just wanted to ask if any of you believe that Jacobs' loss to Pirog was affected, because of his spinal cancer. Dr's told my father that he had cancer a year before it was detected. I noticed that Pirog's power didn't seem as effective since that victory he had over Jacobs. I just wanted to know your take on it.
Do you think Jacobs' cancer had an affect to his loss to Pirog?

I didn't personally think he looked bad in the fight from a physical perspective. He seemed to have decent handspeed, footspeed, stamina and workrate. The problem was that he didn't use smart footwork (just ran around the ring) and Pirog was able to cut the ring on him effectively. He also couldn't hurt Pirog while the latter was hurting him with every right hand he landed. I figure his chin and lack of experience at that level let him down the most.Comment

we will never know. if he did have cancer when it happened it sure as hell didnt help him, it doesnt take a genius to figure that out. but like i said we dont know if he did have cancer back then and he might have lost regardless. all we know is that he did lose, so you have to just give pirog credit and leave it at that.
if jacobs gets another impressive win a rematch might be in order though, pirog needs to fight a decent opponent again already.Comment
