I think Burns is the most underrated fighter from Britain in a while. He beat a very good Martinez for his first title, while he came up the hard way. Massive underdog in that fight. And then has fought some tough, tough guys at LW and beaten some of them comfortably. Yes he has missed out on 2 fights that could have him ranked higher overall and earn him more respect but there were promotional problems along the way and periods of inactivity.

In the next few months we will see at what level Burns really is. I think he is top notch tbh.

I think Burns really is world class, the way he dealt with an in shape Kevin Mitchell in 4 rounds and hammered katsidis over 12 rounds he has proved he is a quality boxer.

I think people are giving him too much stick because of his last fight.

Ricky Burns is obviously not World class, but he is a decent fringe World level fighter.
