Comments Thread For: Garcia Has Noticed a Physical Decline in Pacquiao

Robert Garcia, trainer of Brandon Rios, has noticed a physical decline in eight division world champion Manny Pacquiao. Rios challenges Pacquiao on November 23rd in Macau, China. Garcia trained Antonio Margarito for his 2010 clash with Pacquiao, which took place at a catch-weight of 150-pounds. Margarito took a bad beating in the fight and lost a lopsided twelve round decision. During the fight, Margarito suffered a bad orbital bone injury and it led to his career coming to close.

Physical decline, distractions, motivation have made Manny look world class, but human.

He was motivated for the JMM fight, and looked the best in recent years. If Manny's motivated and dedicated for this fight, TKO round 8.

According to you, fighters never age and start to show the signs of past wars.

Boxers must be super heroes to you.

That Margarito body shot in the sixth round (I believe was the shot). If Brandon sticks to the body and pac loses his lateral movement, the fight becomes pretty even in my opinion.

Only way Brandon beats Pac is if Pac is so physically declined he comes to the ring in a wheelchair.

Even then he goes the distance.

There is not a damn thing in Brandon Rios that Pac hasn't seen before. Rios on the other hand has never fought anyone marginally close to Pacquiao's level.

This is an exhibition fight for Pac.

I don't see anything that Rios can do to beat Pac. Even if declining Pac has so much more stuff that he is easily the favorite in this match.

What else is Garcia going to say

I've watched way too much combat sports in my life to ever say something like this.

NEVER underestimate a guy that has nothing to lose against a guy that just got KOd.

                  Rule #1 in combat sports.

He's just trying to make the fight sound competitive. On fight night though, Manny will beat Brandon from pillar to post, it won't be pretty but it will definitely be a "fan-friendly" fight.
