Revel Resort, Atlantic City, New Jersey - Darren Barker (26-1, 16KOs) scored a big upset with a twelve round split decision victory over Daniel Geale (29-2, 15KOs) to capture the IBF middleweight crown. The fight seemed even in the first half, but then Barker was down in the sixth from a shot to the body. He was badly hurt and managed to survive to the bell. Barker was able to recover and rallied down the stretch. Geale sensed he might be behind and tried to rally in the twelfth, but couldn't put Barker away. The scores were 114-113 Geale and 116-111, 114-113 for Barker.
