Why do British boxers suck so bad?

He beat a brain damaged Gman and got smacked around by a potato farming Irishman twice. Legend, tho!black kastidis ? goto school kid , benn was chinny , but was a ****er of the highest order , who well past his prime had a savage war with mclellan , who at the time was the next big thing . gman had beat jones jr as an amateur jus knocked out julian jackson and had benn out of the ring within 20 seconds of round 1 .... iran barkley got blitzed in a round, doug dewitt was out in 8 , and he beat eubank in the rematch only to get given a draw . Nigel IS a legend in britain , but its nt because people thought he was the best ever , he rolled with gangsters (essex boys), smoked weed like a rasta and turned up on fight night with a kill or be killed attitude , is there any other word than legend to sum him up ? Lol

I'm British too OP and the reason I believe this is the case is due to a lack of appreciation of skills. British fighters tend to have horrible defense (Amir Khan, Ricky Hatton, Cleverly etc) It's also the same for other sports like football/soccer... only a few flair or really good technical players... and when someone shows skill like my Dad would say ''stop trying to be Brazilian'' Also there is a lot of snobbery in British sports and life in general, the well connected fighters/soccer players/tennis players always get ahead irrespective of ability. It's most evident in tennis where we suck so bad apart from Murray who is an anomaly.Comment

One name - Frank Warren.
He's the biggest promoter in the country and to protect his cash cows he simply refuses to put them in against tough competition which while risky, would improve their skills as fighters.
Instead, he feeds his talented fighters bums for 20 or so fights to build their media profile until he is forced into a corner and has to put them in over their heads with guys like Kovalev. Some swim, most like Cleverly sink.
Cleverly was an extremely talented fighter, ruined by self-interested promotion.Comment

There a million and one other sports in the UK that people can make a fantastic living from, plus boxing is not on terrestrial TV anymore which takes it away from younger fans
Also we are a reasonably wealthy country our poorest council estates are nothing compared to many other countries where they more determined to rise up and make a living.
You don't have to do that here, we have **** like the dole, housing benefit, income support. No one has to fight out of a ****** to make a living..
All of this is the reason why our good boxers are few and far between.Comment

I wouldn't say you guys "Suck so bad" Khan doesn't exactly suck, neither does Haye or Froch. Barker is also a tough gritty fighter and showed last night he has skills too.
I wouldn't say the boxers "suck", a bit misleading. Unless this thread wasn't supposed to be seriousComment
