          I think his plan was to have Kovalev fighting going backwards. Takes some of the steam out of his punches and also it would sap his stamina faster. Cleverly must have truly believed he could overwhelm Kovalev and slowly break him down and take over the 2nd half of the fight.

            It looked like his game plan was the rope a dope. Take as many shots as possible while covering up, make it to the 5th or 6th round, then go to work.

            He was going to try to take him in the deep waters and drown him.

            To be honest, I'm not sure Kov could've kept up that paste when he got to the 5th or 6th round. He was throwing a lot of power punches and looked like he was slowing down before the stoppage
