Most ipressive thing should be that he wasn't loading up with his punches at all untill |Clev was hurt. light work concentrainting on speed and accuray. but when it connected it really hearted and only than he switched on the power. Granite chine Cleverly could not stand up for long. It was actually first time when I saw Ref carrying the fighter to his corner - I thought he stopped the fight at the end of 2nd. Ref was trying his best to help the pure victom Clev (respect him for taking this fight). But this didn't help. Where are all those guys predicting that Clev will take Kovalev to deep waters and knockhim down late?

I actually thought round 1 Clev did ok in avoiding trouble, and was knowingly losing the first couple of rounds in a way.

But even once Kov landed a couple of shots picking him off, Clev gradually got sloppier and sloppier.

Kov looked like he knew Clev was gona use a gameplan to up the work rate later and was actually pacing himself at times.

I don't think Clev was looking like he was gona win that fight after round 2 tbh.

What I didn't like was his getting tagged and smirking, inviting Kov in. Right away he gets tagged and knocked down. That shit's embarassing, shows he has too much confidence in himself and chin.

I agree with this. Kovalev was winning the fight without having to go all out or expend a lot of energy. He fought at a measured pace and out boxed Cleverly until hurting him, at which point he turned it on.

I also liked Kovalev's pelvic thrust he did right before dropping Clev the first time.

Man...Kovalev really flirted with a home cookin' disqualification on the second knockdown. He almost gave Cleverly an escape.

The funny part was when Kovalev first hurt Cleverly. Cleverly tried to play it off with some "bring it on" machismo . Kovalev responded with a "okay, I'll gladly dish out some more" posturing .

Cleverley's biggest problem is he thinks he's the next Calzaghe. He isn't even in the same league.
