Why Doesn't Alvarado Get More Love?

Maybe I'm asking this because I, like "Mile High" Mike Alvarado, am a proud Coloradan, but I find myself wondering why Mike doesn't seem to get more admiration & respect (and discussion) on boxing boards like this one.

Here's a guy who has ...

1) ... truly shown the heart of a lion repeatedly in the ring.
2) ... participated in legitimate FOTY candidates year after year.
3) ... emerged victorious in all but one of the above-described battles.
4) ... performed very well in his one loss*, gaining much credit for his heart.
5) ... avenged his one loss, not only by trading, but by incorporating skillful boxing to boot (which people said he could never do).

* even the stoppage was disputed by some (not really me, though)

So ...

Doesn't this warrior, Mike Alvarado, deserve more recognition (respect, mention, etc.) by us boxing fans for giving us about all we could ask of him in the ring?

Probably because he's from Colorado Rocky Mountains? Or that he shags plenty in first class.

He doesn't get much love because he doesn't win his big fights dominantly.
Prescott was beating him before the KO, and he lost by TKO7 against Rios before winning a close UD in the rematch that he was also losing until the adjustment.

But I like him and will continue to watch. I have Provo by KO/TKO, so Alvarado has the stage to impress/exceed expectation once again.

that would be a great first fight.

the issue with big fights is that they cost a ton, and they're often comparatively boring. this is a big fight that won't cost a ton for great seats, and there's zero chance it will be boring.

Great comments, BT & NE. You make me want to go all the more. I love boxing, but confess that the potential brutality of this one worries me. I wonder if they should just have an ambulance with bunk beds waiting on site. (I can't even laugh at my own 'joke').
