Comments Thread For: Campillo Made Many Adjustments After Kovalev Loss

Former world champion Gabriel Campillo spoke to BoxingScene from Madrid before leaving early Sunday morning for Chicago. Campillo squares off with Poland´s Andrzej Fonfara in an IBF eliminator which takes place at US Cellular Field, live on ESPN Friday Night Fights.

“Without going over the top I´m feeling as good as ever. We´ll see on fight night how things go but I really feel great about this fight. I just have two kilos to lose this week.

“Last time [against Sergey Kovalev], I arrived the day before the weigh-in. A whole set of circumstances meant it was almost impossible to come out victorious but this time things are a lot better. [Click Here To Read More]

If Campillo made that many adjustments after Kovalev put him down three times in the 3rd, then Gabriel should ask Kovalev for a rematch.

I wish Campillo every fortune tomorrow, the guy's actually so much better than his record suggests, at the top flight, he may just be the most robbed guy in boxing. 3 Major losses and 1 draw on his record that shoulda been wins. The guy deserves a lucky break.

At least he believes this. The problem I have is just how many Boxers list about 5-10 reasons why they lost a fight and then they lose the rematch, sometimes even worse that the first fight. Now and then they prove that the first fight loss what because they fought the wrong fight, ala Terry Norris vs Simon Brown and Sugar Ray Leonard vs Duran.

Kovalev is too much for everybody in the 175, but Campillo should win tomorrow.

The "loss" to Shumenov wasn't "controversial" as the author says. It was one of the worst robberies in the past 20 years. Cloud decision was only slightly less bad. I'm with others on here: he's again fighting an opponent away from home where the crowd will be with his opponent. He's probably getting jobbed.

He's also not fighting in any venue... he's fighting at U.S Cellular field.... that's a baseball field.
Going to be overwhelmingly in Fonfara's favor

there is going to be about 12,000 Polish fans there for Fonfara I have a very hard time seeing how Campillo will win a decision.
