    Fighters issuing warnings

Can we please agree to stop giving unwarranted attention or press to a fighter who "warns" another fighter that their opponent 'better be ready' for them, or 'look out, I'm not so-and-so" and so forth...

It's got to be one of the corniest things in boxing. What is the point of warning your opponent about how you're going to fight them? What are they supposed to do? Train harder and make the fight tougher for you? It's like a senior citizen thing. I half expect Froch to be playing bingo with a ball cap that has like 300+ landmark souvenir pens attached to it saying "George Groves better be ready."

If you're going to intimidate your opponent, just commit to it and talk trash. Get it over with. Either that or just shut up and fight, no? But these warnings - what's the point?

Trainer: "Come on, man. Get busy and start training! The fight's in three weeks!"

Fighters: "Ahh, don't worry about it. I'm in OK shape."

Trainer: "Well, your opponent just issued a warning..."

Fighter: [Sprints out to run 10 miles]

well they have to say something and some of these guys aren't witty enough to come up with new material.
