Does Sergey Kovalev become the "Boogeyman" if he knocks out Nathan Cleverly?

Seems that we have anointed GGG and Matthysse as the Boogeymen of Boxing. Everyone's scared of them and doesn't want to fight them.

Does Kovalev enjoy the same status/league as GGG and Matthysse?

Is HBO lucky enough to get another Russian star under them?

I was thinking the same thing. Maybe not GGG/Matthysee status, but he will be ducked no doubt if he KO's clev! People were already clamoring for him to fight B-hop after his last fight!

I don't think he hits as hard as GGG or Lucas for his weight class.If he KO's Cleverly with ease than yes he would become the third boogeyman.I think Cleverly is a damn good fighter and I have the Cleverly-Kovalev fight as a pick um 50-50 fight. Cleverly might win by KO himself. He has won most of his last ten fights by KO. Cleverly has never been knocked down as a pro.He has fast hands, good boxing skills and he throws lots of punches every round. This is a good test for both of these fighters.Somebody held Kovalev to a draw so he is not invincible.

Looking at his record that was a TD after 2 rounds. Afaik Darnell Boone dropped Kovalev. I'm looking forward to the fight but I am convinced by his power.

He's never faced a puncher like Kovalev though. He sometimes hangs his chin out to dry. I hope he boxes a disciplined fight by using his height and reach advantage early otherwise he could get KTFO.

Yea, the draw was because the other opponent couldn't continue because of a foul or something.
I know the guy boxrec'd the thing, but at least look at the fight.
I can't fight the original Boone fight anywhere, but that was his 10th pro fight and Boone is fearless.... he's the definition of a gatekeeper who takes somebody to deep waters to sink or swim.
Dropped Kovalev, Ward and KO'd Stevenson. He also enjoy's taking people's 0.

I don't know man, he looks to hit pretty damn hard. He looks like he has some murderous power. Actually I shouldn't say that because he killed someone before. But yeah..very excited for this matchup
