Mythical Match Up #1: Ray Leonard vs. Aaron Pryor (Spring, 1982)

Let's get some boxing fans old enough remember past generations to ring in here ... (j/k)

Sugar Ray Leonard was one of the most skilled boxers ever. Aaron Pryor was the epitome of a wild man-warrior. Unfortunately for boxing fans, these two never met up in the ring (though Pryor tried repeatedly to make it so). The best chance for it happening would've been around '82 or '83. So ...

Q: In your opinion, if Ray Leonard and Aaron Pryor had fought, how would it have gone down?

    Let's hear some opinions.

I think Leonard would have won by KO.He was a much more skill fighter than Pryor and a much bigger man. Pryor had a great offense but his defense was not so good. He was pretty easy to hit when he came charging in.He could take a good punch but I think Leonard would have hit him clean enough, often enough and hard enough to knock him out. Leonard's hand speed and punching accuracy were superior to Pryor's hand speed and accuracy. Leonard was able to beat the great Hagler at 160 although I thought Hagler deserved a close win. Pryor never fought above 140.

Ray would have outboxed him in a thriller

He'd get caught against the ropes every once in a while, and that's where Pryor would shine... But Leonard is no punk, and he'd get the better at some of those exchanges, as well as beating him on the outside with his fleet feet

          Make for Pryor vs Duran

Leonard would have won. Pryor has never fought at 147 and I am not that impressed with his defense. He does have an amazing workrate but I don't his style works against Leonard.
