Golovkin-Stevens highly unlikely (Maybe Rubio-Stevens for interim belt?)

Yeah, he accepted an offer last year, but I guess HBO preferred Proksa.
Sergio Mora just let me know he has accepted a fight with Gennady Golovkin. I'll get more details later.... #boxing

Well... I guess they made a good choice entertainment wise because that was a cracker and a good tv debut.
I'd still like to see them fight... just... not on HBO... even though HBO doesn't mind giving him air timeComment

Like somebody said earlier, Rubio/Lemieux will be the same as this.
He'll throw big shots, get tired and bullied by the bigger, more experienced man.
Might as well, this is Steven's best shot at winning a belt... this match he's not as beaten as badly as the othersComment

Wait... how far up did Stevens jump up the WBC chart with a Roman win?Chris Mannix @ChrisMannixSI 7m
From what I've gathered, @GGGBoxing - @Showtime_Curtis is highly unlikely for November. Stevens either on an HBO undercard, or back on NBC
Chris Mannix @ChrisMannixSI 5m
One possibility: If Chavez decides to stay at 168, the WBC could order Stevens-Marco Antonio Rubio for the interim belt.
Would they really order Rubio/Stevens?
I mean, they're the WBC so probably, but why?
Rubio/Golovkin anybody?
I think the WBC may want to jump on the GGG wagonComment

Wow... BJ flores was right... beating Roman really did bust him up
He's rated number 5 after being int he double digitsComment

That doesn't make sense, GGG didn't get that date till May or June, after Sturm snatched Geale away from Pirog. They started looking for Pirog replacement in July, they were talking Quillin, Macklin, Rubio. I know Mora was in the running for the Rosado dateYeah, he accepted an offer last year, but I guess HBO preferred Proksa.

I don't remember the time line tbh. For some reason I thought that Mora tweet was from much later than February.Comment

Was Mora in the running for then? I don't remember... they were actually looking at super MW's for then. They offered Edwin Rodriguez, but he turned it down... then they were preparing for Tommy GunComment

Chances of Golovkin-Stevens: 40 percent
Golovkin’s promoter, Tom Loeffler, wants to make the fight. Loeffler has an HBO date in November at Madison Square Garden and the Brooklyn-born Stevens makes the most sense. Loeffler and Duva have discussed a deal, but those discussions, at this point, have gone nowhere.
Said Duva, “My feeling about the offer was that it was not serious.”
And it’s not just about the money. Duva and Andre Rozier, Stevens’ uncle/trainer, are not convinced that Stevens is ready for the fight. Stevens has explosive power but has fought just 11 rounds in his last four fights since making the move down to 160 pounds. Both Duva and Rozier would like to see Stevens get more rounds and get more comfortable at his new weight. They would prefer Stevens get that experience fighting on HBO, perhaps on Golovkin’s undercard in November, against a Matthew Macklin-type, but Duva has no problem bringing Stevens back to one of her NBC shows in November or December.Comment
