  • Comments Thread For: Koncz: Manny Pacquiao Supported Roach's Firing of Ariza

Manny Pacquiao’s adviser Michael Koncz has claimed that the “Fighter of the Decade” had met with trainer Freddie Roach and agreed to the celebrated trainer’s decision to fire strength and conditioning coach Alex Ariza.

In an overseas telephone conversation with BoxingScene.com/Manila Standard which broke the story after Ariza told us he doesn’t work for Roach so there’s no way he can fire him, Koncz said he was there when Pacquiao and Roach met in Macau to discuss his preparation for the showdown with Brandon “Bam Bam” Rios and Pacquiao agreed that Freddie “is in charge of the training camp and whatever Freddie wants Manny is in support of.”

Manny needs to take control and make his own decisions. Quit being so soft. I have no doubt Arum is giving Manny the Don King treatment. He's so passive he wouldn't even say anything, that's for sure. This is sad.

+1 on the Don King treatment.

27%, Manny? Really? And the guy kept food out of your mouth by not getting you the Mayweather fight.

The man is clearly not a leader. Which makes his forray into politics somewhat alarming.

This, yet we are supposed to believe that he seriously negotiated when Floyd called him to make th fight? Manny really needs to grow a backbone(outside of the ring) and be his own man. All the help that Ariza gave him & he's not even man enough to admit that he ok'd the firing, tell Ariza to his face or at least over the phone? Some loyalty!

ODH leaves Arum to become a bigger superstar.
Floyd leaves Arum to become a superstar.
Pac who is already a superstar signs a contract extension, so he can continue to pay Arum 27% and not have the Mayweather fight made.

Pac is unbelievably dumb! All hail the future President of The Philippines!

I thought we were past this whole conversation. And for 27% I'd fight myself!

I know Manny and Roach go far back, but Pacquiao is supposed to be the man. Roach should have no say on who belongs in his camp or not. If he's that easily influenced scary to believe what happens in the future for him and his political career knowing the cutthroat nature of politics in the Philippines.

Ariza's "work" is already done. No need to have him around once training camp (*cough* pedtesting *cough*) begins.
