Comments Thread For: Usmanee on The Barthelemy Loss, Facing Mendez

Super featherweight contender Arash Usmanee (20-1) is just a few weeks away from getting the first title shot of his career when he faces IBF champion Argenis Mendez in the main event of the season finale of ESPN Friday Night Fights. Usmanee last fought in January when he lost a controversial majority decision to Rances Barthelemy in a fight that was also televised by ESPN.

The 31-year-old Afghanistan native said that he had an injured shoulder in the fight but overall felt he put on a decent performance. He admitted that he has watched the fight several times and still feels that he did more than enough to come out with the victory.

Have to agree with Usmanee, he bullied Barthelemy that whole fight. Did more than enough to win. Glad he's getting the title shot.

I'm pulling for Usmanee in this one. I like Mendez as a fighter but its hard not to root for Usmanee. He's a class act and is deserving of this title shot. I hope he can seize the moment.

Agreed... always good to see somebody who deserved it but lost out actually getting it

Barthelemy won the first two or three rounds and then was completely dominated by Usmanee. Absolutely pathetic decision.
