Comments Thread For: Dawson's Trainer: Stevenson vs. Cloud is a 50-50 Fight

Eddie Mustafa Muhammad, trainer of former beltholder Chad Dawson, views the upcoming light heavyweight battle between Adonis Stevenson and Tavoris Cloud (24-1, 19KOs) as a "50-50" fight.

Stevenson (21-1, 18KOs) captured the WBC title in June with a first round stoppage of Dawson. Cloud, who held the IBF belt, lost his crown to Bernard Hopkins in March.

Both fighters have heavy hands and Muhammad predicts the winner is going to be the boxer who lands the first clean blow to the chin. [Click Here To Read More]

whoever gets hit is going to sleep.
I dunno man. When's the last time Cloud outright KO'ed someone? A glance at BoxRec (I know, I know...) suggests 2008. I think the illusion of him being some monstrous KO artist is long gone.

No need to apologize for referencing boxrec. All fight fans do, whether they admit it or not.

Stevenson seems to be a bit more versatile but I'm not sure how he is in the late rounds. Definitely an interesting fight that I'll be watching.

Yea, I realise BoxRec gets its bad rep mainly because of those who go around basing their entire perspective of a fighter based on his BoxRec stats, or calling fighters "bums" based on their W/L records. For pure statistic such as the one I pointed out above, BoxRec is invaluable.

The way Cloud kept on hammering Zuniga with his hardest shots for 12 rounds without getting too gassed makes me believe he's got this, especially if he can get past any wild swings from Stevenson in the early rounds. The latter seems to have fallen in love with his power lately, whereas Cloud is used to grafting whether he wins or loses (e.g. Woods, Johnson, Campillo, Hopkins).

Plus, Stevenson will always have that Boone KO to dissuade him from any delusions of invincibility. Cloud is a hard-ass who seemingly doesn't give much of a shit.

Ex-pimp Stevenson hammers. That's all he can do.

Doesn't look like there was an apology...

                Fairly interesting matchup.

I think this fight is underrated because both men are going to try to knock each others heads off. Both are top 5 LHW, and have great KO ratios. should add up to a Knock out.
