Coming off his convincing seventh round knockout of Filipino Jundy Maraon, Dominican bantamweight Juan Carlos Payano (14-0, 8KOs) wants a crack at WBA "regular" champion Koki Kameda of Japan. Payano will have his next fight on August 23rd at Turning Stong Casino in Verona, New York. Kameda (31-1, 17KOs) has been facing many overmatched opponents since winning the title in 2010. In his last fight in July, he easily defeated John Mark Apolinario. To secure Kameda, Payano will have to travel. The champion has not fought outside of Japan since 2008.
