Comments Thread For: Jose Gonzalez's Return in Limbo After Ricky Burns Loss

The return of lightweight contender Jose 'Chelo' González (22-1, 17KOs) is still uncertain. Gonzalez suffered his first career defeat to WBO champion Ricky Burns in May. Gonzalez was up on the scorecards when he retired on his stool after nine rounds with a claimed wrist injury. All three judges had him up 87-84 at the time of the stoppage.

He's very talented. If he can get past his injury, he can become world champion imo.

He is... but he's a quitter.
It'll be hard to become a champ with that mentality

There are many fighters that fought through injury....Gonzalez problem was worse. It was VERY obvious he blew his wad the round before trying to KO Burns and when Burns took it and came back, he stole Gonzalez's heart and made him quit. One guy's heart and will was bigger. Not hard to guess who.
