meanwhile, your idol is so skilled... on ducking worthy opponents and rather chooses to fight cherry picked past prime fighters to pad his undefeated record.

Prime isn't just one thing.
You can be physically prime, and you can be skillfully prime.
Your true prime is when both are at its closest.... generally your physical tools start plateauing around the time your skillful prime starts peaking... Although this is self explanatory, mostly because while time increases your skill set it erodes your physical.
Floyd was was probably mostly prime around Oscar/Hatton, I felt at that point he was physically at both his speed and strength peak... approximately 30 years old. He also was at a very skillful maturity as well.
The layoff eroded some of his physical, when he came back after the layoff and looked a lot bigger albeit a bit slower vs Marquez.
Reaction time took a small down slide Mosley, and even moreso with Cotto, I saw a lot of instances where punches would of been rolled or slipped more efficiently a couple years prior had he fought Cotto then.
Ortiz wasn't long enough for me to judge, and Guerrero's ass whooping had more to do with Guerrero not really pushing Floyd to be anything other than his normal self.
Turning 37 in 6 months, physically he will be past his prime, though his skills are still sharp enough to get it done.
Past prime, though.
