Comments Thread For: Photo: Omar Figueroa, Nihito Arakawa - The Scars of War

Lightweights Omar Figueroa and Nihito Arakawa had the scars of battle after their tremendous twelve round war on Saturday night in San Antonio. Figueroa won a twelve round decision, but it was far from easy with Arakawa taking punishment all fight long and continued to come forward with punches of his own. Arakawa threw 1170 punches in the fight, and Figueroa unloaded 960 of his own. The two fighters went to hospital after the match and there was plenty of respect as they took a photo side by side.

Arakawa won't forget his trip to the US any time soon, I don't think Omar will forget it either. FOTY candidate.

That was one hell of a fight. Huge tip of the hat to both fighters. For all the bullshit that sometimes comes with watching this sport, you get an unexpected gem, and a reminder of what two men who are willing to give just about everything in the ring can produce.

Hope both make full recoveries from this war.

Omar Figueroa has a long way to go. He has next to no defense whatsoever. He could have made this fight much easier on himself and absorbed a lot less punishment.

Entertaining but completely devoid of boxing skill.

Geez. A little bit of defense wouldn't hurt next time.

Arakawa is a ****ing savage. Omar's no joke, either. HUGE respect to both me for producing an all time classic this past Saturday night. Most people who watched live will never forget what they did in the ring that night.

Wonder if Floyd f*gs and Broner f*gs sat there watching it going : "Not enough shoulder rolls for me. 2/10."

This was a brutal war. I hope Arakawa knows what love he's getting from fans. He must have made scores that night with his incredible chin and bravery. What a dude. With power he'd be a ****ing killing machine.
