If Valero had no heart then why didn't he panic or quit when he suffered that cut in his last fight against Demarco? A lesser fighter would have done those things. Was Valero a nutcase? Yeah. Would he have beaten Lucas? Who knows? But did he have heart in the ring? **** yeah he did..

Honestly hard to tell...

but all the fights and sparring footage i have seen on valero, points to the conclusion that he was special... he was a great fighter,,, he never got the chance to prove it...
I think a edwin would have stopped judah and beaten down alexander,,,

but thats just me..

Valero was still developing as a boxer. Fast hands with power...but only had one way of punching. Matthysse is a more developed boxer. More versatile. With the same power.

Matthysse is a career JWW, Valero could punch at 130-135 and that would be the difference. Valero wouldn't be able to handle Matthysse's power, there aren't many guys at 140 or IMO 147 that can handle his power. I don't see how a lightweight could. Only 3 people have been able to go 10 rounds or more against Lucas.
