  • Comments Thread For: Omar Narvaez Considers Move To Face Chemito Moreno

Argentine star Omar "The Hurricane" Narvaez (39-1-2, 20KOs), currently the world champion at super flyweight (115 pounds) under the World Boxing Organization (WBO), is considering a future move to the bantamweight division to challenge Panama's Anselmo 'Chemito' Moreno (33-2-1, 12KOs), holder of the WBA's "super" title at 118-pounds.

Narvaez previously made a move to the bantamweight division in 2011, when he suffered his first career loss by way of a twelve round decison to then WBO/WBC champion Nonito Donaire in New York City.

Narvaez returns on August 24th, when he defends his title against Hiroyuki Hisataka in Argentina, while Chemito is back on August 10th against William Urina in Panama City.

I skimmed through a few more of Narvez fights. Honestly, he's not that boring of a fighter. Going up in weight to fight a bigger guy will once again bring out the boring out of him though. Especially against a defensively minded fighter like Moreno.

Fokkin' hell... That's one hell of a sacrifice to make, even as a fan of this sport. "Taking one for the team" personified. :shk1:

this would be a good move for both of them because they're pretty much irrelevant now outside of South America, but if they fight one another they could get some TV exposure.

Terrible fight for Narvaez. Narvaez is nearing the end of his career at 38. Excellent boxer but Moreno is a bad matchup for him against another good boxer who is naturally bigger. Narvaez looks small at 115. He is a blown up flyweight. Would make more sense for Narvaez to fight one of the other 115-pound champions

not a good career choice considering by the time he gets this shot/wish he'll b a year older, plus I'd guess the bout would b in Panama, difficult to get a win there....

                Narvaez too small for bantamweight.
