  • Comments Thread For: Chavez Jr. Changes Mind, Ask Dad To Work Corner

Former middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (46-1, 32KOs) has had a change of heart. Last week Chavez Jr. said that his father, the legendary Julio Cesar Chavez Sr., would no longer be a part of his training camps. In a sudden move, Chavez has asked his father to help prepare him and work his corner on September 7th, when he faces Brian Vera (23-6, 14KOs) at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. Chavez was trained for his last few fights by Freddie Roach.

He can contribute by making sure his son is disciplined and trains properly.

Unless Snr's planning on squeezing him back up one testicle and attempts to fire another out into Jnr's momma, I don't think there's an awful lot that can be done with the dear boy.

Don't think Sr can do anything now, he should have disciplined him from a child............. That way he wouldn't have turned out the asshole he is

This won't end well. Too many emotions involved. Like RJJ and his pops.

Bad decision. We saw in the 24/7 for the Matinez fight that Sr. does anything but keep his son in line. If anything Sr. enables his son to blow off training sessions and train in his pink underwear in his living room.
If Jr. is serious about making his own legacy he needs to bring in an outsider that will keep him in line and hold him accountable. This move signals he doesn't really want to do the things necassary to be great.
