  • Comments Thread For: Zsolt Erdei Hungry, Targets Andre Ward Showdown

New York, NY - Former light heavyweight and cruiserweight world champion Zsolt Erdei (33-1, 18KO's) isn't looking for any easy fights after suffering his first professional defeat in a razor-thin and questionable split decision loss to Denis Grachev in the first leg of the Monte-Carlo Million Dollar Super 4 Tournament. Erdei is instead offering up his services to super middleweight kingpin and ESPN.com's pound-for-pound number two-ranked fighter in the world, Andre Ward. Ward, who is coming off a shoulder injury and extensive rehab, hasn't fought since scoring a 10th-round TKO over Chad Dawson in September of last year. Erdei says he has no problem in moving down to super middleweight and would jump at the opportunity.

If HBO won't pay for a date I'm sure you could get a good payday against Zsolt going over there... but i doubt you will

It's actually not a bad fight for Ward (skill vs skill). Southpaw and awkward fighter.. Zsolt is no slouch, and trains hard for his fights. Even at 39 I would give him the edge over Bute, Kessler, Groves.. Needs to get back in the mix with a decent win against a top 10. Not a close loss to a guy who just got KO1-ed

Zsolt has been one of the biggest jokes IMO in recent memory. He protected hs belt against bums for years, avoided the "who's who" fighters like Dawson, Jones, Tarver Jonson ect at 175 and finally lost to a fighter like Grachev. I'm not even sure if he's over the hill, he may not ever have been any good.

Zolt is a big slouch and didnt train hard for his fight with Gradovich, which is why he gassed after just 6 rounds and lost

He would lose to any top 10 guy and would lose to all those guys you listed quite easily.

It would have been better for Ward to fight Erdei in Germany -- they could have grabbed some decent cash though.

                (Ward is restarting big...)

                  You mean Grachev.
Ward just needs someone to toy up with a little.

As usual, the threads related to the big P4P star Andre Ward are very crowded.
