Why willingly give up your advantage? You wouldn't expect an UFC guy to get into a boxing ring and throw punches. It's the same reason boxers shouldn't be doing MMA. You stick with what you know. If a boxer wants to do some MMA, he should learn how to effectively grapple. But it's not as easy as it looks....This guy Level is a bully on YouTube and fought a bunch of deadbeats in street fights here in Miami. His whole act is that he is a badass and said he was going to KO Mayorga. As soon as the bell rung he took Mayorga down smh what a *****. I'm tired of these MMA guys challenging boxers to a fight and then chicken out in throwing punches.
Worse thing about it Mayorga was crying in his post interview haha all the fans booed the **** out of both fightersComment

I hate to see washed-up boxers take up MMA after their careers in the ring are over. It's just sad. They're clearly hard-up for money and have limited options. It reminds me of Anthony Quinn in "Requiem for a Heavyweight." SMHComment

For the same reason that someone without much power isn't going to try to get into a slugfest with Gennady Golovkin.
Look at how easily Randy Couture took James Toney down and submitted him. Afterward, Couture respectfully declined any possibility of facing Toney in a boxing match:
“That would be as silly as I think it is for James to step into mixed martial arts here. It would go probably the same way. James would knock me out in the first round.”
My article from that fight... it's a lengthy read, but worth it:
by David P. Greisman - BOSTON – It was only natural that this would happen. All of the pieces fit together as expected. All of the actors played their roles to a tee. All of the events transpired precisely as imagined. There was James Toney, defenseless and flat on his back, his left arm trapped, the pressure preventing blood from flowing forth to his brain. Consciousness – like his prospects of winning once both he and the fight hit the ground – was vanishing rapidly. There was Randy Couture, dominant and mounted atop Toney, his left arm curled under the back of Toney’s neck, his left bicep cinching Toney’s blood vessels and airway, his right hand grabbing the left and closing the choke. Victory – like Toney’s head and neck – was firmly within his grasp. It was only natural that this would happen. James “Lights Out” Toney had spent more than 25 years in the sweet science, more than two decades as a professional boxer. He had been paid to fight 83 times within a boxing ring, compiling a Hall of Fame career as a middleweight champion and a titleholder at super middleweight and cruiserweight. He continued to fight until he had slipped into the fringe, a rotund 42-year-old no longer considered a viable heavyweight contender.Comment

At least Mayorga got submitted quickly in a guillotine rather than taking a whole buncha leg kicks like Rid**** Bowe did.Comment

Randy's no idiot. Toney, on the other hand...This.

You don't get it, the guy is famous for his street fights where he was just standing and punching, that's how he made his name. He's only been fighting MMA for a short period, standing and trading is supposed to be his specialty but as soon as he gets in there with a boxer he's a grappling specialist lol. Reminds me of Kimbo vs Ray Mercer. Why willingly give up your advantage? You wouldn't expect an UFC guy to get into a boxing ring and throw punches. It's the same reason boxers shouldn't be doing MMA. I didn't know all that. But it makes no difference. The guy's not a professional boxer. As good as Rene might be with his dukes, he obviously knew better than to try and beat Mayorga at his own game. Martinez might be relatively new to MMA, but, as it turns out, he's better at the ground game than Ricardo. You don't get it, the guy is famous for his street fights where he was just standing and punching, that's how he made his name.
