Comments Thread For: Team Alexander: Soto Karass Deserves Shot Over Khan

Last night Jesus Soto Karass pulled off his second upset in a row by stopping Andre Berto in the 12th round of their highly entertaining battle in San Antonio. Berto entered the fight as nearly a 3-1 betting favorite but Soto Karass had him on wobbly legs throughout most of the evening.

In January Soto Karass surprised many by outboxing the rugged Selcuk Aydin in Las Vegas as the chief support to the the Lucas Matthysse-Mike Dallas fight. Aydin was a 5-1 favorite in that fight.

He's right technically because Khan hasn't beaten anyone significant at welterweight.

But the usual suspects will turn this into a "Devon is ducking Khan thread" in 5,4,3,2......

What a cop out. Devon's played hardball for months in the negotiations and now he'll duck Khan to fight Soto Karass (someone who's style is tailor made for Alexander).

If Alexander refuses to fight Khan it's a duck - plain and simple.

I agree with you, it's not ducking. But nor is it being done out of the goodness of Alexander and Cunningham's little hearts.

I would rather see SK instead of Khan versus Devon.

His comment was a fact. GBP is trying to use Devon as a stepping stone for a Khan/Floyd showdown. They view Devon as the easiest legit fight that could pave the way to make the fight that they want.

Khan hasn't done anything to deserve a title shot at welterweight.

It is ducking. You have to ask yourself why Cunningham is so desperate for Alexander to fight Karass for less money and attention a Khan fight would garner?

Karass might be on a roll, but he's still a limited fighter with a lot of defeats. He's made for Alexander.

I would be OK with Alexander vs Soto Karass!
