If you rode upon the Berto wagon than you should blame only yourself. The signs before the intersection showed so obviously that this wagon would be demolished once it reached some sturdy tracks. If it was a hay ride you could have made some scarecrows with the same effect............Rockin"

I still respect him. Don't know about "class act" though. He's a warrior and has always been in entertaining fights. He did, however, annoy the hell out of me when he accused Ortiz of juicing and got busted himself. That was just ******.

I agree with you on all points.

I also feel Berto was poorly managed and poorly promoted throughout his career. Lou Dibella never properly matched him with the right opponents to set Berto up for the big stage but rather spoon-fed him these ordinary "Joe's" to seemingly cash-out on him once he did lose a fight.

I think with proper match-making early in his career coupled with the right promotional banner (i.e. Top Rank or if GBP signed him early in his career) there would have been a world of difference.

Poorly managed and promoted? He was making millions fighting nobodies on HBO. All 3 opponents he has lost to he was a good favorite. The moment he stepped up against decent opposition he folded

He's also kinda dumb. You're a fighter, if you really do hurt your shoulder, broadcasting it is just ******. There was no sense in him keeping on showing it in front of Karas.

That's precisely my point, how many Freddy Rodriguez's can you keep fighting to finally prepare you for at least sub-par opposition?

Berto was making millions fighting nobodies thanks to Lou Dibella. His match-making was horrible.

Berto was given alot without actually beating anyone of great note. He still has a ton of heart and is a warrior. Respect for putting his all into the ring.

                  Great post.

                  Berto is a warrior.

He's not elite, but still had some excellent fights.

Someone who has trained in boxing and has trained fighters would know Berto was a hype job from the beginning

                      to hell with Berto
the guy spent yrs milking a belt without doing shit
he won some people over with an exciting performance vs Ortiz
despite losing, he did his part in a great action fight
then he had the temerity to scream steroids
at that point? fuck Berto for good
glad he got his ass kicked by Guerrero and JSK
hope he finally goes away now
