People always say that certain boxing writers are in Bob Arum's pocket.

Is Dan Rafael one of those writers?

i tend to agree with this. The "served" part makes no sense. There was no reply just a retweet with new hashtags.

Imo, I think Big Dan tries to be objective and professional, but his fanboy'ism gets the best of him sometimes. His take on Pac vs. Mayweather over the years is one example. Him not questioning Arum's PPV numbers, yet calling Showtime's Espinoza a liar essentially is another example. Calling Rig boring because he beat Big Dan's Fighter of the Year from 2012 is another example. Saying Floyd would not fight twice this year and his doubt he'd fight Canelo, etc...and his little pissing contest with Ben Thompson among a few others is funny.

All of that said, I appreciate the dude and he's a legit boxing fan and a pretty good writer and boxing and we fans are better off for him being in the game, imo.

if he retired or whatever espn would just replace him, him being espns head boxing guy is part of why he gets the info he does

Dan has been sitting ring side and writing about the biggest fights for as many years as most of the posters have been alive, thats his life. To say he doesnt know anything about boxing is ridiculous. Yea he thinks rigo is boring, so what, so do 90% of fans

A lot of truth in what you said. But his chats, twitter updates, etc, do keep a lot of us updated and he shares a lot of the inside stuff in boxing others do not. Iole, Mannix, and a few others aren't as active even though they have big platforms. I like Ben Thompson also, but he's pretty Mayweather-centric and doesn't have as much range as Big Dan.

Anyway, he's a pompous phuck at times, and he's a bit slanted at times, but he, along with this place, then Ben Thompson are my most used sources just to be real.
