Comments Thread For: Milan Melindo's Future is Still Bright After Gallant Effort

Milan Melindo suffered the first loss in his career when he dropped a twelve round unanimous decision against tough Mexican WBO/WBA flyweight champion Juan Francisco Estrada at the Cotai Arena of the plush Venetian Resort Hotel in Macau.

Estrada used the same tactics he employed when he grabbed the title from the fancied Brian Viloria, biding his time and coming on strong in the so-called championship rounds.

A cut under the left eye of Melindo in round six appeared to be the turning point of the fight as the blood bothered the mandatory challenger while Estrada targeted the cut with his accurate right straights which got through the almost impeccable defense of Melindo up to that point.

Hampered by the bleeding cut, Melindo felt the fight may have been slipping away from him and decided to engage Estrada with the hope of scoring a knockout in the eleventh round. Instead it was Melindo who got caught with a perfectly timed counter right that dropped the challenger and with it the chance of possible victory.

Estrada dominated. Dont let the brodcasters fool you. Estrada won alot of early rounds too melindo wasnt landing much besides a few times he caught him good. Melindo only won 3 or 4 rounds the rest was all estrada specially in the latter rounds. But melindo was game a good fighter

      I fixed your statement.

Honestly, you couldn't of gotten it any more wrong, and you can say don't let the commentators fool you, but they see and know a lot more than you, and they were right, he should've won, and if not the fight should've atleast had close score cards, it took Estrada 11 rounds to even hurt Melindo, where as Estrada was being countered and battered in exchanges, technically Estrada looked amateur vs Melindos boxing.

Wtf are you on. Lol melindo dominated in what world. Melindo could not touch estrada only time he would hit him would be during exchanges. Estrada clearly swept from like the 7 too the 12th scored a knockdown nd won some early rounds.

No sorry Melindo did get in a couple of good shots but other than that wasn't doing anything to put Estrada in some real kind of trouble .You have to beat the champion and take the fight to him. Those championship rounds Estrada took them and Melindo was ready to go . Estrada dominated he kept his composure and used his ring intelligence defense to get Melindo tired . The cards were a bit were too wide though imo

Keep d1ck riding Estrada, he looked garbage for a champion up until the 11th and 12th.

If you honestly think the score cards were reflected correctly you have no clue. Also to the bum saying hurr durr body shots count, yep, they do, check the ones Meldino scored too and don't be a bias bum.

I assume you ignored the first 8 rounds where Melindo was on the attack and hurt Estrada literally at least once every round, can you link me anywhere in the first 8 rounds where Estrada hurt Melindo? I'll wait.

Melindo is a good fighter. He did well today. His speed and counter punching bothered Estrada to some extent. I had the fight close through the first 7 rounds but like the Viloria fight Estrada took over in the last five rounds. The 11th & 12th rounds were dominant for Estrada. The scores were too wide but this was a clear win for Estrada. This kid is really talented. Crisp jab up top and to the body. He throws a solid lead hook and good hooks to the body. He throws good combinations and has excellent footwork. Don't let the wide scorecards mar an impressive performance by Estrada.
