Comments Thread For: Pacquiao-Rios Event Tests Waters of Foreign Soil PPV

Macao – Philippine boxing legend Manny Pacquiao will strap on his gloves on a Sunday morning when he takes on Brandon Rios in Macau, as promoters cash in on the lucrative US pay-per-view market.

In an almost unprecedented move, America's top promoter Bob Arum announced Saturday that the November 24 fight will begin at 10am, ensuring a prime-time Saturday night audience in America.

The unorthodox start time copies the strategy used back in 1975, when Muhammad Ali fought Joe Frazier in the legendary “Thrilla in Manila”, which kicked off at 10.45am.

“November 24 will be an historic occasion. It's expected this event will reach more people than any event held in China, other than the Olympics,” said Arum, who is striving to penetrate the country of 1.3 billion potential fight fans.

The matchup isn't that interesting to me and I feel this fight isn't that great to be honest so I don't think it's fair to use this as a barometer. I don't think this ppv will do very well either. Thinking about 500 to 650,000 ppvs.

This fight isn't PPV worthie and should be an Hbo special at most. Neither is a champion or a top P4P fighter and are both coming of loses.

Bob wants to make manny big in china. Good luck. Doesnt matter much. If it gives fighters a chance to earn more than its a good thing.

How so? Did Floyd fans see Floyd get knocked the f out by a light weight. Last I check Floyd is the P4P king and cash cow of the sport with the biggest money contract in boxing who is headlining one of the best PPV in years. If anything Floms have everything brag about while the Pactturds have only to hope Their god doesn't get knocked the f out again by another light weight

People believing Shming is actually good is as laughable as people believing Gesta was a decent prospect. Dude just isn't that good at all...even against D- level opposition.

I always wonder why grubby little floms always go on about this...its toecurling, embarrasing stuff, funny though. As far as the ppv goes, yeah its a good one, mainly because the undercard fight(lucas-garcia) pisses all over the main event. It would have been even better without the CW, but noone loves a CW like a dirty little flom flom, eh?

A little tip....most people(apart from your ilk) think floyd is a complete ****. Calling anyone that doesnt wanna suck floyd as hard as you do a pactturd/fart whatever is a brutally funny form of self ownage, but do carry on, schnuffty!
