    Glory Hunting Boxing Fans

You get glory hunters everywhere, like everyone rides Man utd in football, the same with boxing.

All of sudden everyone loves Matthyse and GGG, nothing wrong with it. If my guy has talent and they entertain you then so be it.

But Pacquiao was the man for 2/3 years, one dodgy decision and KO and no one rates him anymore excl. Pinoys.

Same with Donaire before he got outboxed comprehensively.

It will be interesting to see the hype Canelo gets post-Mayweather schooling

The gloryhunters are the Mayweather fans, they'd rather be bored ****** and win than pick a fighter who genuinely excites them.

Matthysse and Golovkin fans like to be entertained and for that reason if they lose people will still watch them (Matthysse technically already has two losses).

Those 3 fight in different divisions so why not be fans of all 3? All 3 fight differently.

Manny got a lot of hype due to Asia never having a boxing star like that before. Hence all of the Bruce Lee comparisons. just look at Asian pop culture, not to mention they worship American culture enormously and they love the fame aspects

Following that logic Amir Khan would have a lot of fans, which is obviously not the case.

Re: Mayweather. Ali vs Foreman at the time would seem to be the most boring fight, still one of the most talked about fights till date.

Exactly. This forum can be backwards sometimes. Maybe it's because I'm new. Why can't people like GGG, Matthysse, Manny and Floyd. I like them all but I haven't been corrupted yet by the agenda pushing fanatics. All of these guys are unique especially Floyd and Manny. There will never be a point in time where we will see something like them (FMJ & MP) ever again.

To answer the TS question, boxing fans are fickle. Once a fighter loses their 0 or takes a loss after a big winning streak, they are pushed aside for the next hot commodity. We, as fans, have to do a better job in supporting fighters after losses and not writing them off.

As a fan I'm in it for the entertainment and if you're an entertaining boxer then I will root for you. Some fans get too emotional over one boxer and become overprotective to the point where they'd rather see him take safe fights and win rather than see him in the ring with a live lion because he might lose. How can someone like that call themselves fans of the sport? That's like a Yankee's fan preferring to see the yankee's face off against the Houston Astros rather than the Boston Redsox in the world series because they have a better chance of beating the Astros. Fanboyism is what its called.

I think for lack of a better reason it comes down to that fighters fans. Fans hate seeing another fighter get a lot of love. I don't know why they take it so personally, boxing fans are some of the most interesting people on earth IMO

I love all types of fighters, I even stayed in on a Saturday to make sure my dad watched the 2 days Golovkin special and his fight with Macklin because I know he is a special middleweight. And I am making sure were all getting together to order the Mayweather/Canelo card because it's a huge event.

Why not enjoy all boxers? It makes the sport SO MUCH more enjoyable.
