It's possible he slows Matthysse's attack down, but Garcia takes shots to give them. He doesn't slip and counter. What happens when these punches have affect on Garcia like no one elses have? Is he going to be able to eat a straight right from Matthysse and stay composed enough to throw the left hook? I honestly don't think so.
