September 14th managed to get a lot bigger when Danny Garcia vs. Lucas Matthysse was added to the bill as the support bout for the Floyd Mayweather vs. Saul “Canelo” Alvarez mega fight. Before the fight was finalized, there were doubts it would even get made as things seemed to be taking unusually long to get sorted out.
Lucas Matthysse gave an exclusive interview to BoxingScene Radio as he discussed a variety of topics including why the fight took so long to get finalized.
“From what my promoter told me is they didn't want to sign. They asked for a lot of requirements to make the fight like doing surprise anti-doping testing here [in Argentina]. And also a ton of other things and I accepted them because I train here. So I told them yes because I had no problem [with it]. I’m not taking anything illegal. I do the same training.
