Comments Thread For: Josesito Lopez's Return Still Being Worked Out For Sept.

Looks like welterweight Josesito Lopez will return to the ring sometime in the first half of September, it was confirmed to Boxingscene.com on Monday.

Last week, Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer told Boxingscene.com’s Rick Reeno that Lopez could possibly return on a proposed September 6th card at the Stubhub (former Home Depot) Center in Carson.

However, two sources within Lopez’s team notified Boxingscene on Monday that Lopez will likely return to the ring on one of two possible dates the following week. [Click Here To Read More]

Those type of fights can be brutal. Ask Tyson Fury.

        ^ lol

I like Josesito a lot, good kid and a real throwback kind of fighter. I am glad he's taking a tuneup though. He's had three tough fights in a row, and one was a complete mismatch size wise. He's young and resilient but I can't help but think he should pick his fights a little more carefully for a while to ensure a bit more longevity.

Does anyone view Lopez as a serious contender at 147, or does everyone just view him as an exciting fighter, that will always give a tough fight. He lost to Maidana, who in some people's eyes isn't even elite at 147.

It looks like he won't be the one fighting Kell Brook, then.

Senchenko and Mosley apparently have dates to fight too. I don't think it's Van Heerden either so that leaves Robert Guerrero, any news on him?

He deserves an easy tune-up after his recent run. I felt his fight with Maidana was stopped prematurely, he's better than his record suggests
