Comments Thread For: Froch-Groves Confirmed; Date, Venue To Be Determined

Carl Froch will defend his IBF and WBA World super middleweight titles against George Groves this winter.

The all-British clash will take place in late November or early December at a venue to be confirmed at a press conference in the near future – both men will comment on the fight live on Sky Sports News from midday.

Froch added the WBA strap to his IBF belt when he beat Mikkel Kessler in a brilliant rematch at the O2 Arena in May, with unbeaten Groves collecting the vacant WBA Inter-Continental title on the bill with a fifth round stoppage of Noe Gonzalez Alcoba.

“I’m excited the first defence of both my belts is a big domestic clash,” said Froch. “I am a proper fighter and a proper champion and I will always face my mandatory challenger rather than vacate the title. I’ve known George for a while, I’ve sparred with him and watched him grow and now he’s my mandatory – I will be pouring everything into my preparation for the fight and George will face the very best of me.

“It is better this way than a low-key overseas opponent as this fight will relight memories of some of the great all-British clashes and with World titles on the line it’s a really huge occasion and one that will grab the attention of British sports fans.” [Click Here To Read More]

Groves will make Froch look bad early on with his footwork / hit and move style and may be up on points, but I fancy Froch will get to him late as Groves slows down. We all know Froch don't gas!

Still not a fan of Froch's style or even his level of ability but this should turn out to be a good fight.

I've seen you post this on a couple of boards... but the date hasn't been finalised yet according to Eddie Hearn.

Why so confident about this venue?

Andre Ward said he couldnt believe how slow Froch was. No one can deny Froch is a great fighter, his chin and will means he can outlast most in a fight! But he is a poor boxer..... Groves to school him a la Andre Ward. Rattling combo's off on his big nose and tying his gangley arms up on the inside.
