Celebrated trainer Freddie Roach, who said he expects two-time Chinese Olympic gold medalist Zou Shiming to fight for a world title within one or two years, has warned Zou to stop fighting like an amateur and to fight like a pro.

The South China Morning Post quoted Roach who said "He can't play to the crowd like he did last time (on April 6 in Macau). If you are going to do that, you really have to dominate your opponent. He didn't do that."

Roach who is training Zou for his second pro fight on July 27 in Macau noted that "When you do dominate your opponent, you can do a little talking and a little hands up and be a showman. Until he shows me that during a fight, I won't let him do that again."

Unfortunately for him, he has to look good and take constant criticism right out of the gate since he is in direct view of the public eye. He needs to stay out of the forums, especially here lol.

Okey. Let us see if he could pull a trigger for better win, I bought a ticket already. But if he let us down just as he did in his debut, I think Gradovich-Munoz for IBF title, and Estrada – Melindo for WBA/WBO titles will always be the best cards to entertain fans to the limit!

Completely agree with Roach. Those wide, looping punches are going to get him knocked out at elite level.

This kid will be a big draw in China, but I don't think he will have a great pro career. Freddie Roach is the wrong guy to be training him straight out of the amateurs. Freddie is great with guys who are already established, but he is not a great teacher. Unless Shiming gets a good teacher as a trainer, he will never be an elite fighter.

HBO needs to step their Boxing content up no one cares about Zou Shiming fights (in the US) yet when he is fighting 6 rounds fights against opponents no one knows. The Juan Estrada vs Melindo fight should be badass though.
