Comments Thread For: Povetkin Hires Zimin as Trainer After Failing To Get Roach

Alexander Povetkin (26-0, 18KOs) has hired Alexander Zimin to train him for the October 5th bout with WBO/IBO/WBA/IBF champion Wladimir Klitschko (60-3, 51KOs), taking at Olympic Stadium in Moscow, Russia. Russian businessman Andrei Ryabinsky confirmed the information and says Zimin is now the head trainer of the camp.

Ryabinsky had tried to get Freddie Roach, but there were issues with Roach being unable to spend several weeks in Russia training Povetkin. He wanted Povetkin to train in the United States, which didn't make sense to the boxer. After they failed to reach a deal, Roach accepted an offer to train former three division champion Miguel Cotto, who returns to action on the same day as Povetkin. [Click Here To Read More]

It sounds like a complete cluster**** over there. Not good going into the most important training camp of his life.

He could have Wlad training him for this fight and it would make no difference, Povetkin is getting a jab filled beating before being ko'd.

What round will Povetkin get KO'd? I'm saying the 9th. This fight will be about as competitive as Wlad's last fight.

This'll be like watching a replay of the Chagaev fight - Povvers gets knocked down in the early rounds, stays hurt for a few more, goes into survival mode, Wladimir starts toying with him, bloodies him up, then beats him down with a hailstorm of jab-rights against the ropes in round 10.

            Steeeeeeeelhammerrrrrrrrrr, baby! :box2:

I dunno man, the Pianeta fight was more like that. Admittedly it was a pretty shitty outing and I didn't like it at all. This time I really have a feeling it'll be more like the Chagaev or Wach fights, where Wladimir lets his hands go more *******ly without giving a damn.

Hell, once he gets going and manages to bloody up Povetkin into an inactive shell, he might even start lowering his hands Vitali-style to taunt him like he did in the Thompson rematch.

tells me that Povetkin is here just to cash out. He hires a guy who doesnt know how to train. Zimin traiend dumb ass valuev, and between rounds I always love to hear his bull that he preached to valuev. sad fight for boxing. I hope Wlad kos him
