That's cause when he fights on Arum's card, Arum pays him and keeps whatever is left over, often more than his "minimum" (assumed 27%). The minimum only kicks in if your guy is not promoting the event, so if you're taking a lump sum from the other promoter.

I say if Mayweather beats Canelo he should face the winner of Matthysse/Garcia after. Than if Mayweather wins that one he should face Pacquiao if he can win his next 2 fights as well.


Or, it would be really interesting if Mayweather's 6th fight on his contract is against Pacquiao & Pacquiao's last fight on his contract with Top Rank is against Mayweather. I think that would make for an insane atmosphere knowing both of them will be retiring after the fight. I think that'll be the only way that the fight could be almost as popular as it could have been between 2008-2010. People would be extremely interested knowing it's the finale for both of them.
