I have to step in because you are missing the point, before castro they were only 6 or 7 divisions and only one Champ, so it was hard for anyone to get the crown, still we had the Kids, Gavilan, Paret and Chocolate, Luis M. Rodriguez, Jose Legra, Ramos and Napoles then the gates were closed and a new age was born, alphabet belts with a 100 weight division and 5 "champs" in each of them, back in the day Mexico didn't have 50 "champs", only USA had a few, count how many Champs Mexico had before all the new divisions and belts and you will be surprised, if you do a little research you will find out that the first Mexican pro boxer went to Cuba to learn his craft...

If a relative handful of Cuban boxers have done well in the pros over the last few years, there's no doubt that fifty-plus years of freedom would've produced many more Cuban champions.

Mexico vs Puerto Rico was the status quo for latin rivalry as of recent.

Much has changed with the sudden rise of defecting Cuban exiles successfully translating to the pros.

It seems the landscape is shifting.

The high quantity/mediocre quality of Mexican fighters might be endangered with the presence of the high quality/low quantity Cuban fighters.

In Pro boxing there is

1. USA
2. Mexico
3. Everyone else

You Cubans need to stop blaming the lack of

You obviously don't know anything about the Cuban political situation. Cuban athletes can't just voluntarily leave the island and get paid. Trust me, if they could, practically all of them would be in the U.S. It seems every time a Cuban baseball player defects to the U.S., they land a multi-year, multi-million dollar contract.

No doubt that we well see more of our Cuban brothers making an impact in the sport. We just got to wait till Castro era ends and I'M sure we well see many more talented Cuban boxers coming over to the states. Its always exciting to see a new power house bringing in new style to this great sport and if they do manage to transcend from the amateurs to the pros we well see a very powerful Cuban invasion making a huge impact. Either way we the fans win, we well see more polished technicians in the sport
